40 Before 40: An Update

By | June 12, 2017

At the beginning of my blogging journey, I posted 40 before 40. A list of things I wanted to do before I turned 40. Well, I’ve just celebrated my 31st birthday. Which means that they are only 9 years left. I realise 9 years is still a long time but if I don’t want a crazy year at the end I need to do around 4 a year so I thought this was a good time to update the list with my progress.

The List

  1. Buy a house – Not yet, but we are looking!
  2. Learn to drive (starting with things I really should manage) Done! It did take 3 tests, but I managed it this year.car

  5. stop having babies – this one is totally done. But I can’t really cross it off until I get to 40 without. But it will definitely happen.
  6. Get a tattoo – no. I can’t commit to one.
  7. Get another piercing or two Done, I got my tragus pierced last summer. I want my daith, forward helix and naval done now too!
  8. Go to America – no
  9. Make the blog a reasonable success (I’m not entirely sure what I want that to be yet)- Getting there. It’s had some success certainly and I’m happy with its progress.

  40. Watch at least 50 of IMDB’s top 250 I’ve just sat and counted. While the list changes, so this may not always be true, as it stands today I’m on 89. There’s some rubbish on there though. Shutter Island, seriously?!movies 40 before 40

So, at 31, 8 are ticked off and a few others could be if I was being strict. A fantastic start to my 40 before 40 list I think! Let’s see how many I can manage this year.

  • I really enjoyed reading this, and it sounds like you’re making great progress considering you have many, many more years to go. The question is, though, why are you never going to watch Deep Space Nine? Do you think you should watch but don’t actually like Star Trek, or what? It’s right there waiting for you on Netflix. Although The Next Generation is better. 🙂 #familyfunlinky

    • I’ve watched all of the others. I’m a huge fan. Love Next Gen and Voyager but could never get in to DS9. I’ve seen the odd one but when I’ve tried to watch from the start I can’t get hooked. I recently re-watched Voyager on Netflix and the plan was to do DS9 after. But I failed again!

I just think Babylon 5 is the space station Sci Fi for me!

      • I was never super into DS9 either because it seemed boring to be on a space station when you could be on a ship travelling around. However, if you’re patient with the first series or 2 then it does get pretty good. The characterisation of the core cast is, as usual with Star Trek, very good.

        • A few people have told me that it gets better after season 2. I will give it another go! x
