Awesome Monster Bookmarks

Bookmarks are a great, easy thing to make. You can change the design to pretty much what ever you want, once you’ve mastered the basic shape. These are great for evil heathens like me that turn the corners of pages down.

We opted for monster faces, as they’re really simple to make, but bright and colourful.

Now the basic shape is apparently really easy. There’s millions of them on Pinterest. I could not figure it out. Hours I spent folding squares of paper with no success. Then something clicked. Now it’s really easy!

You will need:

  • Coloured Squares of paper
  • White card
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Coloured pens or pencils

Firstly, you need to make the bookmark body. The Following picture may help.

bookmark instructions

Fold the paper in half to a triangle. Then unfold, and fold again the other way. This is just to get you the folds to make it easier later on. Now fold it back into one of your triangles. Lay it down with the long end at the bottom. Then take the top tip, and fold it down the the bottom, so you’ve got a little triangle. Now fold the sides in, so they meet in the centre. Then unfold them. Now take the same sides and fold them again, but all the way up the top. You’ll now be able to open it up, and fold the bits you’ve just folded up, in to the centre, tucking them inside. There’ll be another triangle, like a roof, left at the top. Fold that inside too. That’s it.

I’m very sorry if that doesn’t make any sense. Give it a go, and keep trying. As soon as you’ve done it once it honestly is really easy. Otherwise, look for a tutorial on YouTube! This shape fits on the the corner of your page, like a hat.

Now cut out any shapes you want to use. Eyes, noses, teeth, eyebrows, whatever you fancy. Colour them in if you want to.

Glue them on and leave to dry. Then get reading!
