Homemade Toad in the Hole

I don’t ever remember having toad in the hole before tonight. I’ve had sausages, mash and Yorkshire puddings all together, just not cooked in the hole as such. So, this is Hunky Husbands recipe. It was absolutely amazing. It is incredibly filling, so don’t do what I did and try to eat loads. I couldn’t move for about an hour, it was delightful.

You will need:toad in the hole ingredients

  • 10 Sausages
  • 8 eggs
  • 400g flour
  • 400ml milk
  • Pinch Salt and pepper
  • Cooking oil

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

Add a little oil to a large, deep baking tray, then add the sausages. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes.

While the sausages are cooking, whisk together the flour, eggs, seasoning and milk in a large mixing bowl, until smooth.

After 10 minutes, remove the sausages, and turn, making sure they are evenly spaced in the pan.

Pour the batter mix into the pan, around the sausages and return to the oven.

Bake for 30 minutes, until golden brown.

While baking prepare mash potatoes, vegetables and gravy to serve.
