Star Wars Toilet Roll Craft

By | January 7, 2017

We have today combined two of our greatest loves. Toilet roll tube craft, and Star Wars. We are a family of Star Wars fans. Me and Hunky Husband love it, The Boy loves it, even The Girl enjoys walking around with a lightsaber. We’ve done a few Star Wars crafts over the years, our egg decorating competition for school last year was remarkable. I can only assume The Boy didn’t win because it was perhaps a tad obvious he hadn’t actually done them.

I’m not sure why it’s took me so long to think of this, but they are wonderful. Toilet roll Leia is one of the best things ever as far as I’m concerned. Aside of course from actual Princess Leia, the best female role model ever!

I’m sure we’ll have a go at C3P0 and Darth Vader at some point, but for now we have Princess Leia, Chewbacca and R2D2.

You will need:

  • 3 Toilet roll tubes
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Pompoms
  • Paints
  • Googly eyes

Firstly, cut 4 1-2cm slits, at equal distance around one end of the tube.

Fold them down, and glue in place.

Next, paint the Leia and R2 tubes white, and Chewbacca a dark brown, leave to dry.

For Chewbacca, paint a lighter brown oval towards the top, then a thin white sash diagonally across the body, then leave to dry.

Once dry, paint black eyes, eyebrows, nose and a white mouth on to the oval. Then some black dashes on to the sash.

For Princess Leia, paint some brown hair, a red mouth and a medal. For her buns, our craft kit didn’t include brown pompoms, so I painted some white ones, then used a bit of superglue to stick them on to her hair.

R2D2 was slightly beyond me. My painting abilities are somewhat limited. So, I used a light blue sharpie for all his blue bits, then just painted his red spot and black bits.

I always thought, that I was clever at making things from toilet roll tubes, when I was a child minder, but I was never as creative as this, I recently had a visit from a parent, that I used to child mind for and she said that she couldn’t look at a toilet roll tube, without thinking of me!#familyfun

Love it. These are fab. Another brilliant toilet roll craft idea. I feel really bad if I throw toilet roll tubes away now because of their crafting potential! Ha. I wonder if I could make Peppa Pig ones. Molly is obsessed with it at the minute. Much to my annoyance ha
