The year already seems to be going by so quickly, and before we know it, Summer will be upon us. Even though it is still spring and we have a little while to go, there is no reason why you can’t start planning some adventures and activities, and even try some out if you have the time. One of the main pleasures of the warmer months is actually being able to get outside without having to spend hours wrapping your kids up in scarves, gloves, coats, hats etc! So, here are a few Summer activity ideas that you can enjoy with your little ones.
Go to Visit a Different Park
Once you get into a steady routine, you may end up finding yourself visiting the same park again and again. And while this is probably out of convenience and familiarity, there is no reason why you can’t go to explore a different park once in awhile. Both you and your kids will appreciate the change of scenery, and you may find that there are better facilities at the one that is a little further away. If nothing else, it is always nice to discover somewhere new that is nearby to your home.
Visit Your Local Zoo or Wildlife Centre
Kids of all ages appreciate a trip out to see the animals, whether this is at your local zoo, wildlife sanctuary, farm or nature centre. Let’s face it; you will have a great time as well! Teaching your kids to interact with animals in a positive way is a great life lesson and it helps to give them a newfound understanding of nature and the different creatures that inhabit our world. All in all, it is a fantastic and fun experience even if you are just out on a trip to feed the ducks.
Enjoy Your Garden
Sometimes, the most fun activities that you can experience are literally in your own backyard. Try planting some flowers together and learning the basics of gardening. Buy a new sprinkler and your kids can spend hours jumping through the water! Or games such as Swingball can offer great fun for the whole family. You’ll probably find that the grown-ups enjoy Swingball as much (more) than the kids do!
If you are lucky enough to have your own conservatory, you have a place to shelter from the elements – a Guardian Warm roof will even ensure that the temperature stays steady so you can enjoy the lovely views of your garden space all year round.
Okay, there aren’t really many outdoor swimming pools in the UK anymore, but it is still a nice summer activity to head down to your local leisure centre for a swim. At least you know the weather will be warmer so you don’t have to wrap up too much when you head back outside!
Another alternative is to take your kids out on a bike ride if they are old enough. Or teaching them to ride for the first time can be a very rewarding experience if you haven’t done it yet. Getting out on family bike rides or swimming together can be a fantastic way to keep the whole family fit throughout the Summer and could even lead to a lifelong hobby.
A great idea is to start checking for offers and deals as Summer approaches. Our local pool, for example, does a £1 swim session on Saturday which is brilliant. Lots of places offer special family deals, especially over the school holidays.
