Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Toilet Roll Tubes Craft

By | May 9, 2017

I remember watching The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when I was a kid. It was never a favourite, but I was a huge tomboy and the boys on my street liked it. So, I played games with them. The Boy is similar. It isn’t one of his favourites. He has a game on his tablet and he plays games with some of his school friends. But he never asks to watch it. However, for whatever reason, he decided he wanted to make Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles eggs for the school egg making competition at Easter and he was very impressed when I suggested we had a go at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toilet roll tubes.

Now as regular readers know, we do a lot of toilet roll tube crafting. Up until now, our Star Wars characters have been firm favourites. But, I think our Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toilet roll tubes are even better. They are so cute. Why is it that just painting something on to a toilet roll tube makes it much cuter? If you’d like to have a go at your own Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toilet roll tubes,

You Will Need:

  • 4 Toilet roll tubes
  • Green, red and black paint
  • Coloured paper
  • Googly eyes
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Firstly, paint the tubes green and leave them to dry.

green

While they are drying, cut some stripes of paper to just under 1cm wide and long enough to wrap around the tube with a bit left over. About 6 inches should do but it’s best to aim long and cut the excess off later. I used tissue paper for this as it’s easy to wrap and we had it in orange, blue, purple and red which are apparently the Turtles colours. But regular paper or even card would probably work fine.

I found it easier to stick the eyes on now. If you are using thin paper make sure you only just a tiny spot of glue.

headbands

When the tubes are dry, wrap the headbands around them. Around 1.5inchs from the top. I secured them with just a spot of glue where the paper overlapped at the back.

Leave around 1 inch of paper hanging off the side so it looks like a headband.

eye bands

Paint on a mouth and nose and you’re done. You may notice that the painting skill here is a bit better than usual. This is because Hunky Husband did it and he’s much more talented than either me or The Boy.

We do so many toilet roll crafts in our activity hour on the farm but I’d not thought to do turtles. This is a lovely idea and I’ll add it to our list when we have a boy heavy week! Great idea. #MarvMondays
