Toilet Roll Tube Fireworks

By | November 6, 2016

In honour of bonfire night, we decided to make fireworks with this week’s collection of toilet roll tubes. We also made some terrible, slightly sinister looking Pokémon…there is a picture on my Instagram feed if you’re brave enough!

You Will Need:paints

  • Toilet Roll tubes
  • Glue
  • Tissue paper
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Coloured card
  • Paints

If you don’t have any of the bits needed for the bottoms, you could easily just make shapes out of paper. Or even draw flames and stick them on.

Firstly, paint your tubes, make them nice and colourful. While they dry, make your shapes. It took me a ridiculous amount of time to figure out how to make a cone out of card! You can do it by drawing around something circular, cutting it out, and folding the circle to find the centre. Then use the centre point to cut out a triangle wedge, finally taping the 2 edges together. This by some magic makes a cone! Tape on the inside to make it neater.

Put a little bit of glue around the top edge of your tube, and sit the cone on top. Apply a little pressure for a few seconds and it’ll stick.

Draw some stars on some coloured card and cut them out. Cut out strips of tissue paper, I screwed them up a bit so they look flamey!

Glue all these bits to the bottom of your tubes. Tada, it’s a super rocket!

We just basically think ‘what can we do with the weeks toilet rolls?’ Thank you

  • I love these, they look so effective. I’ve made so many things from toilet rolls over the years I can’t believe I not thought to do this before. Your step by step guide is great. I was wondering if you could make slits in the top and push the top into a point to save the extra paper step. I might try!

Thank you for sharing a great idea on #Trash2Treasure
