If you don’t move much and allow your kids to sit around doing the same, they’re instantly building terrible habits for the future. It doesn’t matter how much you tell them they should be active, if you’re not showing them how it’s done or doing it with them, then they’re not going to listen.
Here are 3 ways to keep your family active!
Walk As Much As Possible
Don’t just hop in the car at every given opportunity. If you’re going to the shop down the road, walk it. Walk to school in the mornings. It can take a little more preparation and effort, as you’ll have to leave earlier, but getting many steps in throughout the day is one of the best ways to stay healthy and active. It’s easy too!
Take Up A Hobby Together
Why not take up a hobby as a family? You could all try hiking, rock climbing, or even a sport like badminton. Not only is this a great way for you all to burn some excess energy and stay healthy, it should help you to bond and bring you closer together.
Limit Screen Time
When we’re staring at a screen, we’re usually static. A small amount of screen time per day is ok, but limit it. Naturally you’re all going to want to do the easy thing and sit there and watch TV, but don’t let your minds turn to mush! Get outside instead. Encourage your kids to play and use their imaginations. Reading is even far more beneficial than staring at a screen.
